Join us for Neighbourhood Day at your local arts centre and celebrate Windrush Day! Enjoy a day out with free food, creative activities, and the chance to celebrate the Windrush Generation!

Roots Revived: Crafting Connections Through Upcycling Diaspora Treasures by Alizée
Learn how to upcycle traditional fabrics and accessories into small bags. Join Alizée as we breathe new life into cherished fabrics and accessories from our personal diasporas.
In this workshop, we celebrate the beauty of repurposing, turning nostalgic fragments into practical accessories that carry not just our belongings, but also our stories and cultural roots.
Materials provided, but feel free to bring your own.
This workshop is open to all. Under 14s to be accompanied by an adult.

Step into the soulful melodies and rhythmic beats of soul, motown and Gospel music at Baby Gospel, a heartwarming family concert showcasing the extraordinary vocal prowess of London's own CK Gospel Choir.
Members of the choir invite music lovers of all ages to join in singing and clapping along to timeless hits, traditional gospel songs, and cherished nursery rhymes.
Open to all ages, recommended 0 - 8. Baby-friendly!

Learn how to dance the Quadrille, a social dance from the Caribbean!
When traditional dances were not permitted in the Caribbean, slaves rebelled by putting their own spin on the social dances that were danced by their slave masters.
No age restrictions, all are welcome.
Facilitated by Malachi Spaulding of Shanturia Dance Theatre.

About The Participating Organisations

Alizée Ndiaye, a multidisciplinary Creative and Culture creator from the South of France, transitioned from a career as a social worker to embark on a transformative creative journey in London in 2019. Passionate about social justice, she founded Don't Touch My Heritage (DTMH) in 2019, dedicated to promoting black and brown artists through impactful events. Co-directing The Palace Of The Dogs since 2022, Alizée specializes in costume and art design, using her creations to address social issues and inspire positive change. An activist since her teens, she focuses on decolonization and positive storytelling, actively working to dismantle oppressive narratives and uplift marginalized communities, aiming for a more inclusive and equitable world.

CK Gospel Choir are a versatile professional group from London who are united by their love of gospel music and have provided backing for artists such as Beverley Knight, Peter Andre and Alfie Boe.

Malachi Spaulding is Artistic Director and Founder of Shanturia Dance Theatre. He studied Dance at the Ballet Rambert School and Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
His professional credits Include performing in the award winning West End show The Lion King. Malachi has also danced with Irie! Dance Theatre and was a Soloist with the Vienna Festival Ballet Company.
Malachi has also choreographed for the West Yorkshire Playhouse, The Orange Tree Theatre and Shanturia Dance Theatre performed its debut performance of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water at The Place Theatre in London.
